Helping children to develop an interest and love of Reading & Learning
BGFA have developed a mobile library to help motivate and encourage young people to get into the habit of reading. We are cautious that some children, especially those that come into care, find reading a challenge and may need extra support and mentoring. We have found that some children that come into care, find reading a challenge and therefore, may need extra support.
Without individual support, children can fall behind their peers and lack confidence and self-esteem.
Many may find it difficult to interact socially with adults and in later years they may drift into offending behaviours.
Foster carers and or support workers will support the child / young person by spending quality time on a one to one basis when reading, playing and talking.
With the support, the child / young person’s approach to learning and enjoying is often transformed. Their confidence, self-esteem and reading standards improve significantly.
