A Festive Affair: Slough Mayor Amjad Abbasi and Tan Dhesi commend Bridging Gaps Fostering Agency's 'Child-to-Child' gift initiative

On Saturday 9th December, Bridging Gaps Fostering Agency (BGFA) welcomed the children of Slough to their annual gift giving initiative, otherwise known as the Child-to-Child event. Attending the event was Slough’s very own Mayor Amjad Abbasi and Labour MP Tan Dhesi.

9th December, Slough Queensmere

BGFA purchased a large amount of toys to give to the children of Slough, spreading generosity and kindness, especially during a time when it’s most needed. A stall was set up outside the Queensmere Shopping Centre and BGFA’s very own Santa, elves, staff and children were handing out presents, chocolates and cheer.

BGFA works closely with children and believes every child should have equal opportunities, whether that be in education or receiving Christmas gifts, every child deserves to feel loved and appreciated.

Slough Mayor Amjad Abbasi made his way to the local high-street in festive and charitable spirits, inspiring the youth of Slough to partake in both, giving and altruism. It’s key for leaders such as Amjad Abbasi to show a side of kindness and generosity to the public, as it promotes a balanced and healthy society. BGFA believes that philanthropy and giving back to society is one of the most important attributes one should have.

Children are the centre of the business

BGFA aims to give back to the community as much as they can, with children being both the centre of the community and the business, it’s essential to give back. A variety of toys and board games were given to children by BGFA’s own (Foster children and family). BGFA aspires to teach their children the value in giving and spreading kindness, what better way to do it than through ‘Child-to-Child’.

Labour MP Tan Dhesi welcomed the community with BGFA to celebrate this Christmas season, who first came to the Slough office to celebrate the upcoming festivities. He showcased that being an integral part of society is key to ensure a happier environment, which happens to be exactly what BGFA focuses on. It’s important for everyone to do their duty in society, especially in times of deep distress around the world.

“We as a business strive for our children to learn the value of sharing and giving”

- Glen Pereira Registered Manager of BGFA

“This year's Child-to-Child event was a great success! It’s an opportunity for children to learn the importance of sharing and giving back to children who are disadvantaged.

This event was well supported by important people in the community, who just like us, support values that are integral for all children to have as part of their growth.

It was a delight to see so many of our children giving presents to their peers in the community. We as a Fostering Agency strive for our children to learn the value of sharing and giving, and support this through events such as this Child-to-Child event.

This was a hugely successful event and I am personally privileged to be able to contribute and participate in such causes.”
