BGFA Encourages Youth: Bowling with BGFA

Bridging Gaps Fostering Agency never shy away from throwing an event for the children in their care! This month we focused on bowling events to help children and young people socialise, grow confidence, make friends and expand on their social skills.

We held these events around the country, some in our local hometown Slough and others in Birmingham. Attending these events were our very own social workers and those from the admin team, as well as our foster carers and their children.

We are so proud to be able to continuously hold activities where children can develop their social skills and grow in confidence as well as enjoy themselves. At BGFA we are always getting everyone together, because there is no community without unity, and that is the number one thing we strive for.

As a non-profit organisation we are always finding ways to give back to the community, whether it’s through social events, charity or providing support through our services. We aim to spread awareness of foster care, and ensure every child has a home where they are safe and happy.

Encouragement makes all the difference!

We at BGFA value the role encouragement plays in growth and success, and some of our very own foster children were able to engage with others and work on their social skills during this event. For example, it was one of our foster children’s first time bowling, and it ended up being a huge experience for her in which she was able to bond with others and grow in her abilities.

At first, she didn’t want to take part, but after our staff members encouraged her to, she soon began to participate. She may have started off a little wary, however, with a little push she ended the day with a boost in confidence, smiles, laughs and endless chatter with her peers.

A little encouragement and kindness goes a long way! and we at BGFA urge all carers to support their children so that they can flourish later in life.
